Volunteer Support Assistants

Purpose of the role

Support Assistants will work with adults with a variety of support needs (including mental health, physical disabilities, sensory impairments) to enable them to volunteer in the activity of their choice.

 

The Support Assistant will:

  • Help with filling in forms

  • Attending volunteer interviews

  • Support volunteers in their placement

  • Mentor and befriend

  • Advocate for our clients

  • Support independent travel

  • Attend regular volunteer meetings

  • Attend training to develop skills

  8. Willingness to work within Volunteering Bradford’s policies.

 

Training Provided

Support Assistants’ will have to complete a compulsory training course. Topics covered will include:

  • Confidentiality                                                  

  • Boundaries

  • Disability awareness

  • Diversity

  • Safeguarding

 

Availability

  • Support Assistants’ should be willing to commit 2 hours a week for a minimum of 6 months. Hours will vary week-to-week and to be confirmed in advance.
