We offer a comprehensive range of practical support for member organisations.   If you are setting up a volunteer programmes for the first time or facing more complex issues we are here to help.  The overall aim is to ensure that organisations are complying with good practice and that volunteers have a positive experience during their volunteering.

Support to find volunteers

Volunteering opportunities listed with the Volunteer Centre will be added to the national volunteering database, so that we can promote them to prospective volunteers. We also include opportunities in press releases, on our website, in our shop window, and on http://www.do-it.org.uk. Complete the simple forms here.

We are able to offer guidance for involving volunteers in your organisation including:

• Advice on risk assessments and Background (DBS) Checking, LATEST changes

Support with networking

Volunteer Organisers’ Forums are held quarterly and offer a great opportunity for volunteer managers to come together to share ideas, good practice and useful resources. The Forums are also an ideal place to discuss and compare opportunities with other organisations from around the Bradford District.

Investing in Volunteers is the UK quality standard for all organisations which involve volunteers in their work. The Standard enables organisations to comprehensively review their volunteer management, and also publicly demonstrates their commitment to volunteering.  www.investinginvolunteers.org.uk.    We can also advice and support on other accreditation schemes. The volunteer centre has a comprehensive library of volunteering books, training manuals and DVDs for members to borrow.

Photocopying is available in full colour and in stapled and folded booklets, 10% discount for members.

Our portable infra-red hearing loop is available for hire, 10% discount for members.

The annual Bradford District Volunteering Awards and Volunteers Week www.volunteersweek.org.uk  events are a good way to promote the work of your organizations and celebrate the achievements of volunteers.  Members get exclusive access to these events.
